Third Time Tagged

The other day Yasaswini said that my blog was dying. So, here's my attempt at reviving it (and response to Yasaswini's tag)..

Book that changed my life – I don't think I've read something that good [scratching chin]..

Book you’ve read more than once – Harry Potter series. I just love those books. Apart from that, The Tempest and The Discovery of India. And, I'm not kidding.. These were a part of the Literature course in school and by the end of class 12, I could recite Prospero (and a bit of Nehru) in my sleep.

Book you would take to a deserted island – Why would I take a book to a deserted island?

Book that made you laugh – Every single one by this person called Pelham Grenville Wodehouse.

Book that made you want to kill yourself – Thankfully, no book has been that bad till now.

Book you wish you had written – Illusions.

Book(s) you wish had never been written – 5 point someone. Sad, it was.

Book you’re currently reading – Trying to read, more like - Identity and Violence.

Book you’ve been meaning to read – Ha! I've lost count.

Book you have been meaning to finish – One two three, infinity, by Gamow. It's a brilliant book, but my brains seem too lethargic these days.

Alright, now that I've written that down, it feels like I've read very less.. Sigh!

Stranger..

This happened a while ago and I should have written it then; but me being me, it is finally being typed out now.

The other day, Abhimanyu and I were sitting in cafe Odyssey, when a stranger sitting at the table opposite us interrupted our conversation.

Stranger: "Excuse me.."
Abhimanyu: "Yes?"
Krithika: Throws the stranger a doubtful glance.

Stranger takes out some sort of an abstract painting. It looks like a little kid, or someone very inept at painting, spilled some colour on a sheet of nice, glossy paper and tried to rub it off. In the process, this abstract painting was created.. Well, at least that's how it looked like. Anyway,

S: "Do you see anything different about this picture?"
A: Tries to figure something out, squints at the painting.
K: "No." (!!)

Stranger turns the picture at an angle, so that the light falls differently on the painting, and smiles encouragingly at us. At this point, all the waiters in the cafe are craning their necks to see if they can come up with something smarter than the blunt "No" from me..

S: "The picture is supposed to change with the angle of light." (Hopeful face)
A: "Ah! I see.. Interesting."
K: "Hmm. Yes.. Interesting."
S (Going back to his food): "Thank you. (smiles) Sorry for disturbing you.."
A, K: "Oh, that's alright."
S (probable thought bubble): "Most mundane.. Sigh!"
A, K (definite thought bubble): "What a weirdo!"

I was marvelling at people's imagination and wondering where mine had gone, when A turns back to me and says, "All I saw was pretty much a bunch of colours.. What do you think??" I said, "Come to think of it, I think i saw a horse at one angle. But then, I cant be sure.."

Ha!
